On Good Friday, April 15, 2022, Jeremiah Obaji Nworu posted on his Facebook Timeline, that he had been following closely, the arrest and detention of a Priest in the Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki.
Jeremiah said that he made efforts to speak with Rev. Fr. Timothy Ngwuta in detention and he can deduce that he is in a bad state.
According to Jerry, the Effium Crisis necessitated that most of the members of Fr. Timothy become Refugees in Izhi and this prompted him to always want to visit them in there to share some kind words and pray with them.
On the way to Izhi, Fr. Timothy ran into some security agents who claimed they were on stop and search. They levelled allegations of being one of the Warriors of Effium against him and that was how he was arrested on December 11, 2021. He has since been in detention till now.
Fr. Timothy Ngwuta's Parishes was razed to the ground and he escaped death. He was severely beaten, which had made it difficult for him to walk yet, he's still being detained.
From all indication, the enemy had decided to deal with an innocent Man who claimed s free of all allegations levelled against him.
"I want to plead with Ebonyi State Government and the Christian Community to demand for the unconditional release of an innocent man", Jeremiah demands.
Comments seeking to know what the offence of Fr. Timothy arose, as some people thinks, the security agents that arrested him must have found something and they decided not to tell the public.
The Hidden Reasons Behind the Arrest, Torture And Detention Of Rev. Fr. Timothy Ngwuta:
Recall that Bishop Nnachi Okoro, the former Catholic Bishop of Abakaliki Diocese retired in 2015 but the politics of who succeeds him kept him in office on acting basis for six years as the former Governor David Nweze Umahi was pressuring the management of the Catholic Church in the state to install his preferred candidate Hon. Rev. Fr. Abraham Chukwuma Nwali as the successor of the retired Bishop.
His Excellency's influence in Church politics kept rocking the state till 2021 when the jinx was broken by the Vatican City, Rome and appointed Rev. Dr. Peter Nworie Chukwu as the new Bishop of Catholic diocese of Abakaliki.
The appointment which broke the heart of the Governor and his cohorts was not a welcomed development as the Governor, his Boy Hon. Fr. Abraham Chukwuma Nwali and their cohorts found it extremely difficult to accept and address Rev. Dr. Peter Nworie Chukwu as "His Lordship", "Our Bishop" or Bishop of Abakaliki diocese. Engr. Dave Umahi And Hon. Abraham Nwali, should stop venting their anger on the innocent priest as this is already a lost battle.
The ill feelings continued till it became obvious as the general public are aware of David Nweze Umahi's plans to destroy the Catholic church in the state. When the Governor became aware that his evil plans against the church were at public domain, he started arranging for different clans in the state to start organizing reception for the grudgingly accepted new Bishop which was solely Sponsored by His Government to cover up the show of shame.
Ever since then the former governor of the state and His boy, Hon. Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali re-strategized and decided to beam their Torch on the new Bishop looking for where to nail him.
It's a pity that Rev. Fr. Timothy Ngwuta fell into the trap and as such, he's being used as a scape goat.
His arrest, torture and detention was severe just to know what the new Bishop would do.
Why is Engr. David Nweze Umahi destroying the Catholic Church which is adjudged to be the most populated among the residents of the state? " He's shooting yourself on the leg in his political career?".
Why is Rev. Fr. Abraham Chukwuma Nwali, the SSA to the governor on Welfare and Religious Matters, The CAN Chairman South East and Ebonyi state chapter allowing himself to be used to carry the evil plans of the Governor?
Does CAN south East and it's branch in the state led by Rev. Fr. Abraham Nwali and indeed the entire Catholic community no longer have a way of disciplining an erring priest?
Why are the entire Catholic faithfuls in the state and even beyond folding their hands and allowing this evil happen in the Catholic dominated state?
Governor and his politics will come and go but the Body of Christ (CAN) and as well Catholic church in the state will ever remain.
Don't be silent, join the massive protest currently going on now for the unconditional release of Rev. Fr. Timothy Ngwuta, before it was Rev. Amb Ephraim Ononye Rabbai of the Anglican Diocese of Abakaliki, today it's Rev. Fr. Timothy Ngwuta of Catholic diocese of Abakaliki, who knows who be the next?
Recall that the said priest narrowly escaped death just the 4th day of Effium Crisis as his parish was totally burnt down with all his belongings therein.
Something is wrong somewhere, what is The Governor's interest in the arrest, torture and detention of Fr. Ngwuta, you are not only killing the innocent priest but the entire Catholic Community in the state.
If there must be any arrest of the individuals who the governor has accused severally from the area whose political contest and tussle resulted into the crisis, they must be the first to be detained and tried yet they are freely going about their normal businesses in the state, Engr. Dave why?
The whole world is watching you. You have answered the Jewish call to "Release Barnabas and Crucify Jesus".
Hon. Abraham Chukwuma Nwali, are you still fighting a lost battle?
Touch not my anointed and Do my prophet no harm, David Nweze Umahi and your Toy Hon. Abraham Chukwuma Nwali, the wrath of God are hovering on your Heads.
